As first-time homeowners, we feel incredibly lucky to have found David Ervin and his team at Clifton Homes.  Having not undertaken any previous renovations, we felt we were in great hands from the moment we interviewed David.  He truly listened to our ideas and constraints, offered honest feedback, and worked with us to come up with a renovation plan that was agreeable and fair.  

David was incredibly organized and thorough.  We were given a schedule that outlined the work that would be done on each day of the renovation.  If the schedule changed, he would email us and tell us the changes for the week.  Best of all, the team adhered to that schedule.  This was especially important to us, as we were moving from out of state, and weren’t always on site.  We always knew what to expect, and we were able to move in to our new home exactly as scheduled.

The work that David and his team performed was done with the highest level of skill and precision.  When little– and not so little– issues came up as we peeled back the layers of our 30 year old home, David offered thoughtful solutions.  Changes to cost and time were always presented in a fair and reasonable manner.  While we had already chosen a kitchen designer prior to meeting David, he and his sister Mary (from Uptown Kitchens) went out of their way to help us choose the finishing touches, and integrate the kitchen with the rest of the first floor.  They also worked seamlessly with our kitchen designers, cabinet company, and even appliance suppliers to ensure the timely and flawless installation of our kitchen fixtures.

We were referred to David Ervin and Clifton Homes through one of David’s subcontractors, who said if he were renovating his own home, the only contractor he would trust would be David.  In fact, that sentiment was echoed by nearly every worker we spoke to during the course of our 3 month renovation- they all enjoyed working with David because he is fair and doesn’t believe in cutting corners, ensuring that he does a great job every time.  Our family- and now nearly everyone that comes in to our home- agrees.

Finally, David has provided a personal touch, which we have valued immensely.  Throughout the renovation process, he and his team were especially careful and conscious of the work they performed in and around our baby’s room- taking special precautions for cleaning and sealing off spaces.  And, following Hurricane Irene, which flooded our basement shortly after we moved, David came by to check on us and our home, even though he had already completed his work with us weeks earlier.

 

We would hire David Ervin and Clifton Homes again without reservation, and as such, give him our highest recommendation.
